Remembering Julio Cisneros
Celebrate his life on the course and support the family he loved
Thursday, October 8 through Sunday, October 11, 2026
All greens fees and additional contributions benefit the Cisneros family
DiscLula invites our disc golf family to celebrate Julio Cisneros with a round on the courses he and his family loved. During these four days, all greens fees and additional contributions will be forwarded to the Cisneros family’s GoFundMe account or delivered directly to the family. This includes all cash payments into the box outside the shop, all Venmo payments, and all Square payments made through the DiscLula website, regardless of whether the payments are designated for the fundraiser. Additional gifts are welcome. You can also use the links in this tribute to contribute directly to the GoFundMe account.

Bring a friend, share a memory, and help surround Stella, Irene, Marcelino, and Beni with the care Julio gave so freely. Keith Johnson brought this to our attention, and we are honored to help the family in this way.
A father and friend who showed up
DiscLula mourns the sudden loss of Julio Cisneros, a devoted husband to Stella, a loving father to Irene, Marcelino, and Beni, and a cherished friend in our disc golf community. Keith Johnson shared the heartbreaking news that Julio died late Friday night, October 2, 2026. Our hearts are with his family and everyone who loved him.
For Julio, disc golf was deeply connected to family. Keith remembers all five members of the Cisneros family as enthusiastic Lula regulars, returning for events and sharing time together on the course. Often Julio’s place was beside one of his children as a caddie. Keith recalls him especially often caddying for his son—a father giving his time and attention to the next generation.
That encouragement reached beyond his own family. On the fundraiser page, organizer and close friend Tommy Gager remembers Julio cheering for junior players throughout the community, including Tommy’s daughter MJ. His affection for and belief in those young people made him a friend families were glad to see at the course.
A family with much to celebrate
Julio was an accomplished player himself. His PDGA record lists nine career wins, including the MA40 division at the 2026 Georgia State Championships. He also finished second in MA1 at The Lula Classic 2 on August 8 and third in MA40 at September’s Lake Russell Open, a GSS and Throw Pink event. His competitive achievements sit alongside the quieter contribution Keith remembers so clearly: being there for his children.
Irene became the 2026 FJ15 Junior World Champion and also won the FJ15 divisional doubles title with Gianna Losito. Here at Lula, she was part of the winning team at the June 6 Throw Pink Women’s Team Championship this year. Then on August 8, she won the 18-player MA3 mixed division at The Lula Classic 2, finishing one stroke ahead of the nearest competitors. These are proud milestones for a family that made the course a shared part of life.
Marcelino’s PDGA record includes 30 career wins and victories this year at the One Love Invitational, Junior Spring Fling, and Atlanta Juniors Championship in MJ15. Tommy’s tribute also celebrates Marcelino’s multiple Junior Worlds podium finishes and youngest brother Beni’s pursuit of a world title this year. Each child has dreams worth nurturing, with family and friends beside them.
The family’s connection to Throw Pink and junior disc golf is part of this story. Julio competed at the Lake Russell Throw Pink event; Irene’s winning Lula team and the family’s participation in the June 13 East Roswell fundraiser for the Bain and Cisneros juniors reflect a community where competition and care come together. Keith has created a memorial disc for Julio that started its journey at East Roswell Park. The disc is intended to travel from hole to hole, one player at a time. After hole 18, it moves to hole 1 of another course to continue its journey. Participating disc golfers can share his memory, reflecting on his love for the game and his family, and his commitment to giving back to others.
Julio’s legacy will live in the people he encouraged. At DiscLula, we hope these days of play become a simple, tangible expression of gratitude for his life and support for the people he loved most. Come enjoy the course, remember Julio, and help his family carry forward.
